Is my data sent to a server?

No. CSV Formatter runs entirely in your browser — parsing and re-serialising are JavaScript and your data never leaves the tab, which is why it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

How is this different from CSV Viewer and CSV ↔ JSON Converter?

CSV Viewer never rewrites what you paste — it only shows it as a table. CSV ↔ JSON Converter rewrites CSV into a different format, JSON (or back). CSV Formatter rewrites CSV into CSV — a normalised delimiter, consistent quoting, and a chosen line ending — and never touches a value's own content, row order, or column order.

How does it know which delimiter my file currently uses?

It's detected automatically — comma, semicolon or tab, whichever produces the most columns when the document is actually parsed, not just counted, the same detection CSV Viewer already uses. What you choose in the Delimiter setting is the *output* delimiter — a genuine choice, not something to detect.

What does "Always quote fields" actually change?

Off (the default) quotes a field only where CSV requires it — when it contains the delimiter, a quote character, or a line break — which is what keeps ordinary output readable. On wraps every field in quotes, including ones with nothing special in them and even empty fields (""), for tools downstream that expect every value quoted rather than inferring that a bare value is safe to read as-is.

What's the difference between LF and CRLF line endings?

LF (\n) is what every other Developer tool on Kalyvor outputs by default. CRLF (\r\n) is RFC 4180's own line ending and what Excel and other Windows tools generally expect. Only the break between rows changes — a line break that's part of a quoted field's own value is untouched either way.

What happens if my CSV is malformed?

You get the exact line and column of the first problem — an unterminated quote, a stray quote in the middle of a field, or a row with a different number of columns than the rest — not just a red cross, the same precise positioning CSV Viewer and CSV ↔ JSON Converter both already report.
